Windsor Knot beer created to mark royal wedding

A Cambridgeshire brewery has created a beer to celebrate
Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in April.

Windsor Knot, created by Elgood & Son Ltd, uses sovereign hops
developed for the Queen's Golden Jubilee, honey and malt from the Sandringham Estate.
The bottled beer will be available to buy in March while the draught
version will be sold in Elgood's pubs in April.
Alan Pateman, head brewer, said he would be sending samples to
Clarence House for the couple to try.
"We're looking for a good, rounded beer with a bit of unusual flavor
 in it," he said.
Elgood & Son Ltd is a family-owned 200-year-old business based in
Wisbech.
Mr Pateman said he wanted to create a beer with Royal connections
so he used malt from barley grown at the Queen's Norfolk retreat,
 Sandringham.
It is the first time the brewery has used sovereign hops in one of their
beers, while the honey is a reference to the young couple's honeymoon.
"It's a lovely pale golden beer," explained Mr Pateman. "With a lovely
aroma of hop and also some sweetness from the honey we've used."
The label combines the traditional Union Jack flag colours of red, white
and blue with the couple's initials.
Mr Pateman hopes Miss Middleton and Prince William will try out his new
brew.
"We will be sending some samples down, probably to Clarence House,"
he said. "So hopefully they'll accept that gift and give it a try."
