Just when you thought it was case closed on Kate Middleton's wedding dress designer, Sophie Cranston had to throw the cat among the pigeons.

Hardly anyone had heard of her a few days ago, and then overnight fashion designer Sophie Cranston became the talk of the town when it was 'revealed' on Huffingtonpost.com that she had been selected to design Kate Middleton's wedding dress.
While other designers in the frame have made the most of their speculative association to Middleton's big day, Cranston, whose label Libélula was showcased by Middleton at a wedding earlier this year, went into hiding, seemingly unprepared for the big 'reveal'.
We waited and waited for the standard "Oh no! How flattering! Gosh, I wish, but no" statement to be issued by her PR team, but none came. Instead, when I spoke with the PR she seemed uneasy and a little unprepared herself.
No denial seemed as good as an actual admission, and in the absence of one, Cranston for a while, assumed the position of couturier to the future Queen of England.
But wait, what's this in my inbox?…
"Libélula has a company policy of not commenting on any of the work they do for private clients, however due to the unprecedented media attention they would like to make the following statement:
'For the purpose of clarification we are not designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress. We, like everyone else, can't wait to find out who is!'"
Oh no, another denial, how v v dreary. Crank the rumour mill back up…
