Princess Catherine's exquisite wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen was a royal hit as she effortlessly swept us all away into the fairy tale wedding of the century on April 29th.
Expertly kept secret until the very last minute, her gorgeous, form fitting silk gazar bodice, skirt and train topped with handmade lace was magically transformed into a 2nd outfit for the dinner reception hosted by her father in law, Prince Charles, the Duke of Cornwall. The detatchable  8' train lovingly tended to by the bride's beautiful sister Phillippa, and hand embroidered English and French lace full gown overlay was removed to reveal the exquisitely simple and form fitting silk gazar signature under-gown.

Accessorized with a bridal white angora bolero, and silver beaded cummerbund, the original silk gazar bridal undergown was expertly transformed into a chic evening gown for a night of dinner and dancing at Buckingham Palace. Her hair was unpinned from underneath her wedding veil and tiara and styled into flowing loose curls with a side part for a complete and perfect evening transformation.

The two-tiered, transforming gown was so seamless and flawless in both design and execution, it remained undetected by the media worldwide, including New York Times fashion Editor Suzy Menkes, until the very publishing of this post.

The amazing, iconic and transforming royal wedding gown nicknamed "McGown" after it's Design House origins at Alexander McQueen has already been copied around the globe for young brides everywhere to emulate the beautiful, regal and fashion forward Princess Catherine's original and amazing look.
