On Monday, royal representatives released details about Prince William and the former-Kate Middleton's first overseas trip to Canada and southern California, set for June 30 to July 10.
Palace officials on Monday gave details of the couple's itinerary. They will visit Canada's capital, Ottawa and the surrounding region; Montreal and Quebec City in the francophone province of Quebec; Charlottetown and Summerside on Prince Edward Island; the Northwest Territories capital of Yellowknife and the oil boom town of Calgary, Alberta. Their Alberta visit coincides with the opening of the city's world-famous rodeo event, the Calgary Stampede.
Yeehaw! The full breakdown:
- June 30-July 2: The National Capital Region (Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec)
- July 2: Montreal
- July 3: Quebec City
- July 3-4: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
- July 4: Summerside, Prince Edward Island
- July 4-6: Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
- July 6-8: Calgary, Alberta
According to the Daily Mail, "the newly-weds will make an emotional visit to the Canadian airfield where Kate's late grandfather, Peter Middleton, was based as an RAF pilot during the Second World War." He and Catherine were very close until his death, at age 90, last year.
The Duke and Duchess will then hit L.A. for two days, but don't expect them to hobnob with the stars. A palace source told People.com, "The couple view this as a working visit, not as an opportunity for them to meet celebrities."
